Roughly
20 years ago I bought myself a used staggered 16” set of the
famous BBS RS split rims. After several years of usage on my dark green
BMW E28 535i and later on a dark blue BMW M635CSi they looked pretty
beaten up and needed a refurbishment. The
535i as well as this M635CSi are gone since many years now, but the
rims I still have. Meanwhile they have been refurbished three times and
currently they are mounted on my diamond black BMW
M635CSi. Over
the years my collection of classic BMWs grew and they all needed nice
wheels. I realized that most “refurbishments” were
quick & dirty jobs. Polished dishes on a poorly painted center piece and a rear barrel
still having the dirt of several years of usage on them. This is NOT
what I call a refurbishment. So I decided to do it myself. Whenever
I went to meetings or shows I was asked where I had my rims refurbished
and when I said I’m doing it myself people asked me if I
couldn’t do it for them as well. This is in short how a business was developed
from a purely private hobby. |
